Bipolar 2 Disorder is distinguished from other forms of bipolar in that there has been at least one episode of hypo-mania (Please see Hypo-manic Episode). A person that was diagnosed with Bipolar 2 that suddenly had manic episodes or mixed episodes of manic and depression, would most likely be rediagnosed with Bipolar I.
