There are many types of bipolar disorder. If you have been diagnosed with bipolar I, it simply means you have only had, or are in, one episode of manic, or a mixed manic-depressive episode that is not associated with schizophrenia, delusion disorder, psychotic disorder, or drug inducement. Bipolar II Disorder is a label used when symptoms are hypomanic, meaning, there has been an episode lasting at least 4 days where your mood was elevated, expansive, or irritable, with specific symptoms present (please see Hypo-manic).
