How can I get my child to behave?

Praise and Rewards

Rewarding a child for appropriate behavior is more effective than punishing a child for misbehavior. Rewards can be in the form of physical (hugs, a pat on the back), social (smiles, a wink), verbal ("Good job"), or giving special privileges (an extra half hour of play before bedtime).
