
Immediate Consequences

strategies/index.html">children, particularly young children, need immediate consequences instead of delayed consequences. For example, they are not able to pay attention long enough to earn a sticker at the end of the week, or even the end of the day. They might need a reward after an hour or twenty minutes.
Typically, children under the age of 5 need immediate rewards. Some school age children do too. If you are using a sticker or token
behavior management plan and it is not working for one or more children, you might want to consider more immediate consequences.
